Final fling
Cranbrook Bowls Club
We held our club pairs day last Sunday, which was the last day of play for the 2023 season. We started the day with one minute silence for two amazing ladies who both sadly died the week before. Joan Bassett Smith a club member for many years and up until her recent resignation our club President and Maureen Ball a past member. Two amazing ladies that I'm sure most of you will have fond memories of. The day consisted of two games in the morning after which we had a very nice lunch before playing a final game in the afternoon. The weather was kind to the 23 players who took part. The overall winners were Ricky and Gill, second were, Rob, Dave (Dil) and Chris and third were Janice and Peter Rye. After a short break the day continued with music provided by the Captain Malcolm's band and a bbq. A lovely end to this year's season. Thanks to everyone for making it such a great day, with particular mention to Cath and Tanya for preparing the main meal and Gill and Janice for doing the BBQ in the evening. Also to everyone who made desserts and helped get the food and clubhouse ready. To Mick for making sure the green was in good shape, Peter for organising the event, Ray for the order of play and scoring and Malcolm and his band for the entertainment and anyone else I may have inadvertently missed. Thank you, you all you did a great job and made it a memorable day. So that's it until 2024 as far as playing outdoor bowls is concerned. However, we have the AGM coming up, date to be announced soon, the club officer nomination sheets are up in the clubhouse. The presentation lunch will be at the Weald Golf Club again this year on 26th November, if you want to come and have not signed up please let Gill know, the carvery is excellent. Shortmat in the clubhouse will be starting again soon, details to follow.
